Privacy
This explains what we collect through this website, why we keep it, who else can see it, and how to get it removed. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
Who we are
This website is operated by Berke Emrecan Arslan, an individual sole trader trading as Artemian (ABN 92 355 684 231), based in Subiaco, Western Australia. You can reach us at hello@artemian.com.au. We do not have a phone line or a public office.
Our position under the Privacy Act
Most small Australian businesses with an annual turnover under A$3 million are exempt from the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles. On our current turnover, and because we do not trade in personal information, provide health services, or fall into the other exception categories, that exemption is likely to apply to us.
We are telling you that rather than hiding it, and we have written this notice as though the principles applied anyway. If we ever stop being exempt — by growing past the threshold or by changing what we do — this page gets updated before that happens, not after.
What we collect
When you send a fit check
The form asks for your business name, your suburb and state, your current website if you have one, your name, your email address, and your answers about the site you need. We also record when you submitted it and a one-time key that stops the same submission being saved twice.
Please do not put sensitive information in that form. It is not built for health information, identity documents, bank or card numbers, passwords, or anything about someone else's private circumstances. If you send us something like that anyway, we will delete it and tell you we have.
When you just read the site
This site sets no tracking cookies, runs no advertising pixels, and has no analytics product attached to it. Our hosting provider processes the technical details every website receives — your IP address, your browser type, which page you asked for — in order to serve the page and block abuse. We do not build profiles from that, and we do not sell it.
Spam protection
The fit-check form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a submission came from a person rather than a script. It does that without tracking you across other websites.
Why we hold it, and what we do with it
We use what you send for exactly one thing: reading your enquiry and replying to it. That reply may say the job suits you, that it needs a bigger scope, or that you would be better off with someone else.
We do not send marketing emails, we do not add you to a newsletter, and we do not sell, rent, or trade your details to anyone. If you become a client, we keep the records needed to run the job and to meet our tax and record-keeping obligations.
Who else can see it
Only the providers we need to run the business. Each one sees the minimum required to do its job.
- Cloudflare — hosting, the database this site's form writes to, and spam protection.
- Discord — delivering fit-check details to our business channel so we can review and reply.
- Our email provider — so your enquiry reaches us and our reply reaches you.
- Stripe — invoicing and payments, and only if you become a client.
- An accountant, tax agent, or lawyer — where we are obliged to, or where we need advice on a specific matter.
Some of these providers operate overseas, which means your information may be stored or processed outside Australia. We choose established providers with published security practices, but we cannot promise your details never leave the country.
How long we keep it
- Fit checks that do not become projects — kept while we are considering and replying, then removed within 90 days of submission. Ask us to delete yours sooner and we will.
- Client project records — kept while we are working together, and afterwards for the period our tax and record-keeping obligations require.
- Backups — a backup may persist for up to 90 days after deletion before it is overwritten in the ordinary course.
Keeping it secure
Access is limited to the people who need it and protected by multi-factor authentication where the provider offers it. Data moves over encrypted connections, secrets are scoped rather than shared, and deployments are tested with a rollback path. That is a real standard, not a guarantee — nobody can promise a system is unbreakable, and you should be wary of anyone who does.
If something goes wrong in a way that credibly affects your information, we will tell you promptly and take advice on what else is required of us.
Your customers' details, if you become a client
When we build your website, enquiries from your customers go to the address you nominate. Those are your customers and your responsibility — you decide what happens to their details, you answer them, and you meet whatever obligations apply to your industry. We test that your form works each month without keeping copies of real customer enquiries in our own records.
Asking us what we hold, or asking us to delete it
Email hello@artemian.com.au and ask. We will tell you what we have, correct anything wrong, and delete what we are not required to keep. There is no charge and no form to fill in. We aim to reply within2 business days.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled something, tell us first — most of it is a misunderstanding we can fix. If that does not resolve it, you can raise it with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we handle information, we update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes that affect people who have already contacted us get an email as well.
This is our plain-English description of how we handle information. Where you have signed an agreement with us, that agreement governs the work — and if the two ever say different things, the agreement is the version that counts.
